[Lake Armament/Stone Shoring] [Erosion Control] Lake Armament / Stone Shoring The benefits of Stone Shoring Armament around lakeshore lines are many. First, the bolder look as we call it, when installed properly the system is approximately 20 inches under water level and 24 inches above water level with an average of a 4-foot base. Boulders are placed on smaller stone that are spread on geotextile fabric; this distributes the weight of the boulders preventing irregular earth settlement. The stone riprap is more than strong enough to hold back the earth embankment. The boulders when set properly achieve a vertical facing.
K. L. New has completed jobs in Cincinnati and Columbus areas. In Cincinnati three lakes were armored that had over sixty geese. You could not walk in the grass let alone the path around the lake. Three years have passed and the geese have not returned. The occupancy rate went from 53% to 89%! Tenants started using the jogging paths around the lake, the grounds were clean, tenants were not tracking droppings into their units and staining the rugs, and it eliminated a health concern. This stone shoring also prevents muskrats and best of all, kids - the stone is too large. As you know kids can devastate small Stone Shore lines. Last but not least the esthetics of the lake is outstanding when the project is completed. There are other options for lakes in areas where boulders cannot be supplied. If you already have small riprap around your lake and it was installed properly we can re-grade the stone and use it as a base placing the boulders at water level, which could greatly reduce your cost.
